Supporting our staff and brightening environments

Our dedicated teams work tirelessly to look after patients and their families – often in difficult circumstances.

So it’s only right that we’re there for them too, whether that’s supporting their mental health and wellbeing, improving working environments, or creating opportunities for them to develop professionally.

Cherry Tree Courtyard

Thanks to your incredible support for WHH Charity and funding from NHS Charities Together, a new wellbeing facility - Cherry Tree Courtyard - is now available at Warrington Hospital.

The additional space provides a place for staff activities, drop-in sessions and counselling or therapy sessions, enhancing the health and wellbeing provision for the WHH workforce and wider community.

Supporting youth work

Chloe Lloyd works within WHH’s Youth Service as a diabetes youth worker.

With the support of WHH Charity, she has been able to evolve her role and increase the support she is able to provide – running video sessions, increasing home visits, boosting attendance at drop-in sessions at the hospital, and offering much-needed additional emotional support to help young patients deal with their diagnosis.

Chloe said: “I would like to thank Helen Higginson and WHH Charity
for their continuous support and for providing funds to carry out events and activities within the Youth Service. We could not have achieved so many amazing things and supported so many young people without them.”

Radiology reflection garden

A peaceful memorial garden in the heart of Warrington Hospital’s Radiology Department provides a tranquil space for staff to reflect and recharge.

The Radiology Memorial Garden, which was opened on Thursday 22 May 2025, honours the memory of much-loved colleagues Janet Guy and Trevor Wain, both of whom sadly died after many years of dedicated service at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals.

Staff from the Radiology Team quickly raised the first £1,000 before approaching Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals Charity to help bring the vision to life. With the launch of the Radiology Memorial Garden Appeal in 2022, a wave of support from the local community followed.

Thanks to a fundraising abseil in 2023 and incredible backing from local charity corporate partners, college students, and volunteers, the project raised more than £5,000 and gained vital donations of time, materials and expertise.
